How many CDs do you own?

Coping: Personal - Off Topic: How many CDs do you own?
By Oom Papa! on Tuesday, February 12, 2002 - 03:24 pm:

Don't be shy.

By Karla on Tuesday, February 12, 2002 - 06:28 pm:

Me, shy?? LoL ...

I own about 30! I've gotten rid of a lot of CDs in my lifetime...

hey, you didn't say how many YOU own.

By Oom Papa! on Tuesday, February 12, 2002 - 06:48 pm:

True... But it wasnt cuz I'm shy! I'm not sure exactly how many, but I think I own about 150 odd. They all sit in a big square hole in my wall, in between my bed and computer desk.
I didnt get rid of any CDs at all until about a month ago when I sold about 20 CDs and got 4 in return. A good trade? Well, in a way. I've got to say though, it was embarrassing even admitting to the girl on the counter that I owned some of the CDs that I hocked. Talk about your past catching up with you...

By indigo on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 - 10:58 am:

I think it's a law (going by the contents of my local 2nd hand record store) that everyone about my age has tried to get rid of at least one of the following CDs -

A "Now that's what i call music!" from the mid-90s
A Space album (probably Tin Planet)
An Oasis album (probably be Here Now)
A Garbage album
or something really embarrassing, like 3T, Boyzone or Hanson.

By Karla on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 - 02:23 pm:

hahah Oom Papa, what type of music could POSSIBLY be so embarrassing?? *curious*

By Oom Papa! on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 - 05:27 pm:

Hmm...I think I'd even prefer to tell you who I am than tell you the titles of some of those CDs! indigo named one of the slightly less embarrassing ones though... ha ha.
Okay, okay...TRANCE UBER HITS OF 2000 was another one. I dont even know how that ended up in my possession.

By Lurky on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 - 06:04 pm:

Umm... around 60, I think. Wow, I just realised I haven't bought a single CD for aaaaaaages... Appalling. Must. Get. Out. And. Get. New. Ash. Album.

By ToupeeTape on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 - 06:51 pm:

Got around 300 CDs and sold a looooot of them before moving to the UK but only got about 40 quid back :o/ Now I regret selling CDs, not because I miss whatever I sold, no, but because I shouln't be ashamed of the shit I used to like!

Ok, Cds I sold include: *ahem*

Bon jovi (purchased too young)
Ugly kid Joe (idem)
Mr Big (I regret that one)
Pulp x 4 (new-stolen in record companies)
dEUS x 2 (idem)
Various other "stolen" shit like Jungle Brothers..
I kept my Take That albums...

By indigo on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 - 09:30 pm:

BUY. FREE. ALL. ANGELS.
It is fabulous! like a poppy, indie summer, pressed into shiny, circular form. It's the only album I've heard for years where EVERY song could be a single (and most of them have been!). Last night I created an uber-Ash album by copying Free All Angels and sprinkling the singles from 1977, plus their cover of Teenage Kicks amongst it. Mmmmmm, Tim Wheeler!

By sarki on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 - 11:55 pm:

I've got about 200:
7 shit blur albums
6 ace oasis albums
9 pulp albums
about 25 double CD compilations
6 nirvana albums
6 manics albums

I also must have about 50 singles lying around.

By The Occifer on Friday, February 15, 2002 - 01:09 pm:

Nu Clear Sounds is the only Ash album I can stomach at the moment. Call me old, cynical and over the hill, I dun care.

By Skroo on Friday, February 15, 2002 - 01:45 pm:

I listened to NuClear Sounds the other week and it wasn't as bad as all the mags would have us believe.

By SARKI on Friday, February 15, 2002 - 07:02 pm:

Nu Clear Sounds rocks! But 1977 and Free All Angels are the standard we've come to expect for Ash.
Wildsurf, Projects, Jesus Says, Numbskull, Burnout, Fortune Teller and Death Trip 21 are good songs but th'rest is total bollox!

By purkle on Saturday, February 16, 2002 - 02:42 am:

im sorry but i lurveee candy, sounds kinda like (and i hate to admit i know this) a song from grease (which i dont like) but i lurve that song

i suppose tho it didnt do them much they will always be known for the classic girl from mars and even tho our ickle laddy cant sing in tune too well he is lush

:o)

By The Occifer on Saturday, February 16, 2002 - 05:06 am:

The thought of Sarki admitting he likes a band like Ash, and in particular those two albums, makes me laugh.
And yeah, I didnt think Nu Clear Sounds was bad at all. It was one of the albums I used to listen to a lot on a month-long holiday to Melbourne, just after it came out. Now whenever I put the album on I think I can smell the Melbournian house I was staying in... Strange days.

By Karla on Saturday, February 16, 2002 - 05:23 pm:

Thanx for the birthday wishes you guys! Text description

By SARKI on Saturday, February 16, 2002 - 07:22 pm:

Officer! go and dig up your grannies corpse and suck maggots out of her rotting twat you ex convict funcus faced, shitbreathed ozzie wankstain!

By The Occifer on Saturday, February 16, 2002 - 09:13 pm:

Sarky! That's not strictly possible seeing as both my grannies are alive & kicking as we speak. I suppose that whether or not I could still suck maggots out of their twats is a different question altogether though. Some in my family would argue that it'd be quite possibly achieveable.

By sean on Monday, February 18, 2002 - 11:36 am:

haven't read the posts , just answering the question ("woah, strange! wtf he doing that for?" i hear you say) :
i own about 120 cd's most of which i don't listen to because my tatse in music changes yearly apart from certain bands (like blur) that i like at a constant rate
