and they were absolutely fucking excellent. Even though i was at least a mile away on top of a hill, with 35000 people in front of me, the screens were worse than useless, Beck played an acoustic set of songs I didn't know, it rained so much that it felt like I was swimming and the thunder and lightning was more than a little scary, what with the close proximity of power cables and trees.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh - they did all the best ones of Amnesiac and Kid A, plus Airbag, Street Spirit, Karma Police, Fake Plastic Trees, Lucky, Paranoid Android, The Bends, so many good songs I can't even remember them all! And delight of delights, Thom Yorke was quite chatty and emotional, and they finished on the third encore with Creep. OH MY GOD! We danced through the rain and the mud, bin bags flying through the trees, neon lights flashing with the chords, crying and singing.

Right, I thought I'd got over it after 24 hours, but obviously not. Ah...... just a shame i didn't meet Joe.

Two topics for one gig? Must have been good.

I couldn't give a toss.

By The Occifer on Monday, July 9, 2001 - 07:56 am:

I give a toss. I would have liked to have been there, very much. Your description of the inclement weather conditions just added to my imagined moody atmosphere, Indigo. I mean, you couldnt see Radiohead on a sunny day, could you? Sunny days are for Beaf. Or Meat Axxxe.
Actually, on second thoughts, maybe sunny days are for the beach with Bull Frog in tow. Yeah, sounds better to me.

For some reason this topic reminds me of when I was a little girl. I leave you to imagine why.

By Skrooie on Monday, July 9, 2001 - 06:54 pm:

Lol @ BEAF & Meat Axxxe.

By indigo on Monday, July 9, 2001 - 08:19 pm:

Why, oh Twirrélistica? And although the weather conditions were a little more then "inclement" (think being trapped in the steerage of the Titanic), it was very Paranoid Androidy. It was also quite sunny and cheerful for Supergrass, which suited boumcing around like a pogo stick to Caught by the Fuzz. Oh, and you have to read these gushing reviews! Oh damn, can't find the exact links, you'll have to do a bit of work and find them on http://www.nme.com yourselves!

And did I start this topic at the same time as Joe? I definitely looked to see if one existed first. Hmmmmmm

By Joe on Tuesday, July 10, 2001 - 10:02 pm:

Right. God does not want me to post on this topic. I have tried four times and my computer has crashed each time. Here we go again then.....

It was truly amazing. The rain did absolutely nothing to ruin my enjoyment of it, even though I was soaked to the bone like a fish with very thin skin. Supergrass were very cool indeed...they dedicated Sun Hits The Sky to my friend Matthew who killed himself on the motorway a few weeks ago, which was really choking and poignant. Oxford rocks. Blur aren't that good. I'm a new man.

Now please work.......

By june on Wednesday, July 11, 2001 - 02:15 am:

By Joe on Thursday, July 12, 2001 - 06:14 pm:

Guess staring? Wow. How does that work then?

By oldie on Thursday, July 12, 2001 - 06:23 pm:

I might tune in just to see how that works!

By indigo on Thursday, July 12, 2001 - 06:37 pm:

On wenseday? I would imagine that Radiohead could turn "guess staring" into a truly mesmerising experience, somewhat similar to a cross between that cartoon off that sketch show with the world staring competition and Banzai.

Quite a few Copers at the gig then, and we all missed each other. I was wondering who that bloke was that Gaz dedicated Sun Hits The Sky to. Please explain of how Gaz knew this guy.
