What are you guys listening to?

Coping: Personal - Off Topic: What are you guys listening to?
By Paige on Tuesday, May 1, 2001 - 07:10 pm:

Just... right now or lately. Whichever you feel like talking about. I'm curious.

Also - Kenzie, my all knowing music guru: Ed and I have a bet going. Who is the song "Sugar Sugar" by?

By Si on Tuesday, May 1, 2001 - 07:26 pm:

That's not the one by the Archies, is it?

By Kenzie on Tuesday, May 1, 2001 - 08:38 pm:

Yep. Thats the one. :) What Si said Paigis.

By Kenzie on Tuesday, May 1, 2001 - 08:39 pm:

As for what I've been listening to.. I've been listening to the grateful dead a lot today. Dunno why. Just in the mood I guess. :)

By Si on Tuesday, May 1, 2001 - 09:17 pm:

Oh wow.. I rock! I plan to get her to teach me everything she knows. Except maybe about Elton John.

My day's listening comprises of Travis on the bus, the Bluetones when I got home.. and now my lil' mini-stack of CDs next to me has Paul Weller, Barenaked Ladies, Kent and My Bloody Valentine.

By Butter~Girl on Tuesday, May 1, 2001 - 11:04 pm:

I WORK IN THE RESTAURANT, THAT'S IT.

By Kenzie on Wednesday, May 2, 2001 - 02:41 am:

Hah! To learn all I know, one must first gain an appreciation for Elton John!

I've been listening to Stan Kenton quite a bit lately too. No real reason why. Just in a mood that sounds like his music. Stuff thats kinda moody and swings at the same time..

By alex on Wednesday, May 2, 2001 - 03:04 am:

At the moment I'm listening to the Cocteau Twins', "Heaven Or Las Vegas". However to compile a list of..lets say the last few days, I've been listening to,
-Radiohead, "Pablo Honey" and "Kid A"(no OKC or Bends, or Eps for me right now)

-The Smiths, "The Queen Is Dead"

-Blur, "Best Of"(this morning getting ready for school anyway)

and a little Django Reinhardt for some late at night mood music.

By ZACH+------------ on Wednesday, May 2, 2001 - 03:56 am:

The Dandy Warhols... Their great... The Dandy Warhols Rule, OK... Nuf said

By Arresting Occifer on Wednesday, May 2, 2001 - 09:43 am:

Yes, they are, arent they? I was going to see them play tonight except I came down with a nasty virus. If I'm feeling better tomorrow I'll head down to the Gold Coast and catch them playing at the Palladium.

By The Occifer on Wednesday, May 2, 2001 - 10:13 am:

Right now though, I'm lisening to So You by Blur. After this finishes I'm going to put on the Resin Dogs album, Grand Theft Audio. Don't let the title put you off, eh.

By Paige on Wednesday, May 2, 2001 - 04:22 pm:

Aww.. I'm sorry to hear that Occifer... I hope you feel better soon. The Dandy Warhols are quite decent aren't they? :)

Kenz - Stan Kenton eh? Very nice. Do you like him better than Ellington? I've had "Smoke gets in your eyes" by Artie Shaw stuck in my head all morning... Are you into him?

DJANGO REINHARDT! Marry me alex... lol. Kidding. Excellent.... excellent.....excellent. Its all I can say.

By Kenzie on Wednesday, May 2, 2001 - 07:33 pm:

Ummm... I dunno. Depends on the mood I'm in. Some days I'm more partial to Duke Ellington... other days... Stan Kenton. A toss up really.

I love Django Reinhardt.. Nice one Alex

By *ANGIE!* on Wednesday, May 2, 2001 - 07:36 pm:

Hello Paige. Im listning to Erotica by Madonna and its so cool hehe!! I'm up to the end now :-( Take A Bow is really cool but..a good ending. Did u see the filmclip for that song? Whoa! Talk about sexy hehe
Antonio Bandaeras hehe SPUNKRAT!!!
After this album I might put on either INXS or Madonna Ray of Light...hmmm.......decisions, decisions!

By Seb on Wednesday, May 2, 2001 - 09:26 pm:

Hey people, can u help me please.....my icq was deleted so those who know can u send me a msg so i can get ya numbers again? cheers very much.....Seb............and si when u off on ya tours of usa

By Paige on Wednesday, May 2, 2001 - 10:28 pm:

haha. I hate Madonna Angie. I think she's one of the most overrated people in the music business, sorry. But you know, whatever blows your skirt up..... as Kenz would say.

Speaking of you Miss Makenzie Lynn... what do you have going for tomorrow night after work? Ed, Nate, Joely and I are going to Buona Sera at 8. Wanna join us?

Also, do you have time to take on another piano student? One of my violin students also wants to start taking piano, but I don't have the time between the B&B and my other students. Should I give her your number?

By alex on Thursday, May 3, 2001 - 01:23 am:

Ah, how refreshing to see there are people here with such exquisit taste(refrencing the Django outpouring above.)

Rignt now I'm listening to Tortoise's, "Millions Now Living Will Never Die". Great album, one of the better groups around today. What more could I want?

By Kenzie on Thursday, May 3, 2001 - 01:47 am:

Yeah well, people with taste is a disappearing species I'm afraid. It seems that with most people these days, taste is only something that concerns their mouth. I'm impressed that you're familiar with that kind of music Alex. Most people don't know jack shit about it I find. Especially girls for some reason.

Paige - How many students do you currently have? How advanced is she? I would put you in touch with my old piano teacher Molly Anderson if she's really serious. Lots of benefits with that. Molly is part of the teachers guild at the American college of musicians. If she decides to do something with it, being a student of Molly's will open a lot of doors for her. Let me know.

As for Buona Sera - I'm so there. haha.

By Micky {The Lad} on Thursday, May 3, 2001 - 07:00 am:

I'm just listening to Familiar To Millions by Oasis yeah, right now before I duck off to work in a few minutes yeah. Fucking great rockand roll album too, dont let anyone say otherwise eh. Anyraod I also love the Sex Pistols (Never Mind The Bollocks), The Jam, The Clash (Cut The Crap, Give 'Em Enough Rope), Nirvana (Nevermind, In Utero), Blur (Blur) and Iggy Pop but most of all I love JOY DIVISION. Closer and Still fucking rocks.
Luv,
Michael.

By Angelz on Thursday, May 3, 2001 - 06:40 pm:

I've been listening to Guns n roses alot lately,
but right now i've got nirvana unplugged on.

By Paige on Thursday, May 3, 2001 - 06:57 pm:

Micky - sex pistols, the clash, iggy pop, blur, joy division... they're all good.

Guns and roses Angelz? eh. Nirvana's good though.

I've been listening to the Velvet Underground today. I listened to "pale blue eyes" like 5 times in a row... it makes you so mellow... and...yeah.

Uh, anyways, I'm gonna go make coffe now.

By Paige on Thursday, May 3, 2001 - 07:02 pm:

Oh! btw, did you all know that Joey Ramone died? I had no idea! When did this happen eh? jeez. I'm so out of it.

By ZACH+--------- on Thursday, May 3, 2001 - 08:34 pm:

I dont understand but for some reson the indi rock world fell in love with Guns-n-Roses recently....... Sorry but not me

By Butter~Twirrélerite on Thursday, May 3, 2001 - 10:32 pm:

I do not drive CAB!

By alex on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 01:20 am:

Kenzie, and anyone else for that matter, I am so male. I know, its mistakable, the name goes either way.

Right, er.. Sex Pistols. Their slightly disgusting, and other bands had that sound before them and were doing that sort of what is now typically "punk" years before. New York Dolls had been doing what sounded like what was being done under the label "punk" in 1971 for christsakes, and Iggy Pop had the whole cutting yourself on stage thing down far before the talentless trio.

I do like The Clash, but not that much, you are right no with Joy Division though, augh, so good. I love Ian Curtis' voice, when in the right mood.

Zach, have you noticed that too? All the sudden its okay to like Guns N Roses again, what is that? I mean its fun to listen to when it comes on the radio and your driving around with your friends, but beyond that, where is the quality to be found?

By Kenzie on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 02:44 am:

Oh! Alex, I didn't mean that you're a female. Not to worry darlin'. I always knew you were a guy. I was just pointing out that most females I've met don't know jack shit about good music. Its just a fact. : ) Paige and my friend Patti are like the only ones I know.

There is no quality in Guns and Roses music. Its like the song Louie Louie, its by no means good on a theoretical scale.... but its so fun. Guns 'n roses on the other hand... well, Louie Louie kicks anything they did's ass any day.

By *ANGIE!* on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 03:35 am:

Guns N Roses are OK!! I like Sweet Child O Mine and Welcome to the Jungle and loads of other songs as well hehe.. Anyone who says they're crap is just a spoilsport.
I just got back from the uni bar coz they were having a fun night so I went with my *friends*. Party! LOL. Some guyz there were trying to get us to organise an inpromptew Wet T-shirt competetion which we were going to do until they kicked us out at 3am hehe.. SPOILSPORTS!! I had a bit to drink hehe..dont know how I will go at aerobics in a few hours. Oh well, I'll manage!! ;)
Anywayz I also like Kylie. *do the locamotion with me* and i like Blondie as well. Hanging on the telephone hehe. I was at a bar the other night and me and my mate Kristal put a coin in the jukebox to hear Heart of Glass hehe..and this really ugly chick with no tits and fat legs slurping down a beer said "HEY! TURN THAT SHIT OFF!" but we just tried to turn it up louder hehe...but we couldnt cuz ther is no volume switch. Oh well hehe. It still rocked! After Blondie we put some more money in the jukebox and listened to Shampoo (fun!!) and then we sang along to Cindy Lauper hehe. A fun night was had by all!!! hehe
I also like Parklife.
Luv,
ANGIE!

By Paige on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 03:53 am:

lol.... Watch yourself Angie, people like you could easily get shot where Kens and I are from pissing everyone off with that kind of music in a bar. haha. But more power to you if you're enjoying yourself.

By Paige on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 03:56 am:

Ok... Just cos he's so cute. I'm showing ya'll my dog.

gus

By ZACH+------------- on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 04:39 am:

WOW!!! Your dog looks exactly like my dog... amandas dog looks even more similar..... as far as guns n roses go.... I hate axel roses voice to the grave... then again some people dont understand why i love mick jagger so to each their own.

By Paige on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 02:32 pm:

Is your dog sort of the runt of its litter too Zach? Gus is quite a bit smaller than most springer spaniels. But the Vet said he's full grown. *shrugs*

By Lucky on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 04:22 pm:

Oh wow. How CUTE is he?? Sweet.

By oldie on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 05:40 pm:

which bar Angie?

By Paige on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 06:15 pm:

haha, thanks Lucky. He was my birthday present last year from my brother for when I moved into my cottage. His name is Gus. And he's the most spoiled thing west of the mississippi.

By Paige on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 06:18 pm:

NEW QUESTION!!

What are your guys' top 5 favorite love songs of all time?

By Angelz on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 06:33 pm:

I dont wanna miss a thing

By Kenzie on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 07:16 pm:

In no particular order

I only have eyes for you - The flamingoes
Nights in White Satin - The Moody Blues
Lets stay together - Al Green
Sleep Walk - Santo and Johnny
Darling come home soon - The Lovin' Spoonful
Only You - The platters
Close to You - The Carpenters

Hmm... I have to think about this more as these certainly aren't the only ones...

By St*Rsh*PeD on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 07:37 pm:

Well, I've been listening to Hefner a lot lately - they're great. And Gorky's Zygotic Mynci and Velvet Underground.

It's annoying though - half the time I buy loads of albums for one song and the rest of the albums crap - that happened with the Life Without Buildings album - the song "New Town" is great but the rest pisses me off. Anyone else heard it?

By Paige on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 08:37 pm:

Sorry Kid, I have not.

Kenz - No John Denver? lol! The angels are weeping! The Moody Blues.. Santo and Johnny.. very good choices I must say. I only have eyes for you is possibly one of the most romantic songs ever! I have to think long and hard about my list. hmmmmmm....

By ZACH+------------ on Friday, May 4, 2001 - 09:18 pm:

Yeah... My dog is a springer but he is the biggest one i have ever seen... big and stupid..... amandas dog is small though

By Kenzie on Saturday, May 5, 2001 - 04:33 am:

I have yet to think about my John Denver selection. You can just kiss my ass for the time being for such a jab at my tastes Paige Brienne! You Beeeoootttchh! lol. : P

By OutOfOrder on Saturday, May 5, 2001 - 01:13 pm:

Zach, dont they say that most Dogs take after their owners!!!!!!!!

By Paige on Saturday, May 5, 2001 - 06:12 pm:

I'll take that as a compliment..

By Kenzie on Saturday, May 5, 2001 - 11:42 pm:

Aww... Gus-Gus is such a cutie. He's so well behaved too.. My dog... isn't. haha.

I can't decide which is my favorite love song by John Denver! Its too hard.

I'm so tired! I think I'll be in bed by like 9 tonight. haha. Me and my big saturday night at home writing a paper... yessiree. Good times.

By Paige on Sunday, May 6, 2001 - 04:08 pm:

lol - wanna know about MY saturday night Kenz? A bunch of us went to T-rud around 9:30 and played baseball for like an hour and 15 mins before it started raining (We were kicking their asses 8-2 though) And so we left and went to Billy's.... And everyone kept buying me drinks....And well, the rest of the night I can't remember too well. haha. I haven't been drunk in over a year and now I remember why. All I can really remember is Nate picking me up and carrying me into my house and accidently bumping my head against the door frame. *ouch* I woke up this morning on the bed in my guest room with a blanket over me, a glass of water and some asprin on the night stand and a note from nate telling me that I'll probably be needing them. haha. I'm not hung over or anything.. but I've got a doozey of a bump on the left side of my head that was still ringing this morning.

Hope things went well with your paper!

By Kenzie on Sunday, May 6, 2001 - 07:42 pm:

Nate you say? hmm.. I'd watch myself if I were you Paige, your brother might get his hopes up that the two of you might be getting together. haha.
As for the bump on your head, serves you right! lol. Out having fun while I'm slaving away writing papers! You suck! haha.

By nat on Sunday, May 6, 2001 - 09:06 pm:

By kacy on Wednesday, May 16, 2001 - 08:23 pm:

I too shall answer the original first:
Right now I am listening to Blondie, Parallel Lines. Also today/recently- throwing muses (first album self titled), ladytron -604 and idlewild - 100 broken windows. And I like the dandy warhols too.
Love songs? I don't really care for traditional love songs. How about these?

breakup song: No Distance Left to Run-blur

lust song: All Nighter-Elastica

stalking song: One Way or Another-Blondie

cute little song by a neurotic guitarist sitting under a table: you're so great-graham

heartbreak song: one more hour - sleater-kinney

By Micky {The Lad} on Thursday, May 17, 2001 - 08:01 am:

WEEZER GREEN ALBUM IS FABULOUS!!!!!!!

By Brett on Thursday, May 17, 2001 - 10:08 pm:

No wonder Angie dumped you Mickey! you're just totally nasty to her and you treat girls with on respect, on top of being a total shit shag according to some of my sources. They dont call you "mickey maggot" for nothing you know!
Brett knows how to treat the birds right, both in and out of bed. Hello to all the coping birds
HAHAHABOOMBOOM! mickey maggot

By The Occifer on Friday, May 18, 2001 - 02:02 pm:

What's gone wrong Brett, you've turned into a dreaded SNAG! I remember not so long ago that you said all the coping girls were "mingers", did you not? I think you excepted only Jen from that blanket judgement. What's gotten into you, Brett? Become a Born Again Christian? Fallen in love? Undergone a prison-based rehabilitation course? Do tell...

How's your old man, by the way Bretty? I remember he got "sent down", hence you had to leave Coping. Is he still doing hard time, Brett?

By kacy on Saturday, May 19, 2001 - 04:37 am:

hee hee yeah indigo, me too! Whilst looking at that pic I always wonder how he managed those high heels...his legs look quite nice though! ha ha!

By The Occifer on Friday, May 25, 2001 - 07:43 am:

So Brett, are you ignoring my questions because you're lost for words, or is it just because you're asking for a punishing next time I'm in Huddersfield, eh? Eh?!

By The Lad {Micky} on Saturday, May 26, 2001 - 08:34 am:

Shut up Occifer, you're full of bollox. I can handle the fat bastard on my own, yeah.
Nice one.

By BIG BRETT on Saturday, May 26, 2001 - 07:21 pm:
