I just wanted to have a slightly more...enlightened thread, as "foot and mouth, part deux" is all a bit..you know. All though I do commend the use of frech, very good.
So what artists, work, do all of you enjoy?
One of my favourite contemporary photographers is Joel Peter Witkin, because of its sick and twisted nature, I naturally love it. I get pissed off though, I had gone to a lecture he was giving, but the hall was to small for all the people, so I sat on the steps, then got chased to the back, I stood, then about fifty people had to leave all together, goddamnit I wished got to see him! (sorry for the vent)
While I love his work, I'm a big fan of the early 20th century surrealists, i.e. Salvador Dali. I love his film work, like the one he did with Bunol(the most famous too) "Un Chien Andelou" Fucking great!

It certainly inspired me as an innocent & impressionable sixteen year old. I even made my own surreal film way back when, accompanied by 'Hail Santa' by Primus & some Austrian musique.

At uni, I directed Shakespeare's 'Julias Caesar' in a surreal style. Needless to say I had the characters eating dog food with a spoon & was STILL able to justify it in the post play analysis.

The selection of his work I saw seemed like a blatant attempt to shock, like Howard Stern with a camera.
