Looking back over the impressive diversification and quanitity of topics on Coping, who would you say the true legends are?
Who should take the credit for the success of this wonderful board? Who are the true hero's who have kept it "alive" so long and povided such brilliant reading? I'm not talking one hit wonders here, I'm talking true hero's! people who have supported coping for a long time.
Fruit pashtul anyone? -chew chew chew-
I'm off to read some more topics

Aha! I had just posted something "hero" related, hahah...well, it was more "kingly" related but still.
ok who would I say has been "hero" material here...hmmm...I haven't been here for as long as a lot of other people but I would say that my personal hero has been......*drum roll*
hmmm hmmm hmmm......can we have more than one?

LOL! You're too cute Karla!
By indigo on Thursday, April 25, 2002 - 04:58 pm: |
Hmm.. dunno. Lets have some hard facts shall we?
Openromantic/nepo has posted on 22 different topics
Lucky/238 = 215 topics
me! = 254
Karla = 52
Ana/Butter/Twirre = 123
Big Brett/Breast etc = 148
Mickey/Angie = 53/61
St*RSh*PeD = 32
Oom Papa = 53
nat/ nathallie/ hallie = 274
R~S~P = 109
lukas = 32
tobyz = 63
ian = 71
kenzie = 60
eddy = 135
the occifer = 152
paige = 40
si = 51
This is a completely random selection of people I seem to remember posting a lot, but please feel free to add your own - maybe we could have a league table - not that i want to encourage the TWs or Dave Hedgehogs. And of course, some people just post any old shit (such as me) whereas some Copers only occasionally deign to throw us a pearl of wisdom.

By Butter~Mobile on Thursday, April 25, 2002 - 06:44 pm: |
I like the way you post "any old shit", Indigo! Compared to some of the cringe~inducing self indulgent nonsense I've posted in my time, your posts aren't "shit" at all!
As for who are the true Coping "legends" ... well, I reckon anyone who has the energy to post here at all deserves a medal, because these days, so few people do. I think it was Scamp who complained (as he seems to periodically do about almost everyone and everything) about how tiny the Coping community is, especially in comparison to loads of other message boards? I agree. It's strange how few people post here. You'd almost think Coping was a board for fans of...I dunno, Love & Rockets or Martika or Jason Donavon.

CHUT!!!! CHUT!!!!!!!! CHUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
By indigo on Thursday, April 25, 2002 - 10:59 pm: |
I quite like the fact that there is a core of regular posters - some message boards just descend into pages of "I love this band! where r u all from?!?" over and over again, whereas Coping is like a whole little soap opera - although I can't follow the gossip and bitching sometimes because I don't go on BC or have these big convoluted email things going on.
ok, some more stats:
chut = 45 topics
scamp = 40 topics
hmm, must try harder.
I'm currently watching an Eddy Izzard video and rolling round on the floor with laughter, because he's miming an australian with a skiing elephant on his roof, trapped in a hairnet. Doesn't sound funny, but it is!
By Karla on Friday, April 26, 2002 - 01:11 am: |
Eddie Izzard is hilarious! A friend let me barrow a tape of one of his live shows called "Dress to Kill" and I was really impressed! I'd never heard of him before, but got totally hooked anyway. And I just found out about a week ago that he's going to do another televised show in about 2 months! *yay*
Speaking of Eddie Izzard and clowns...he kind of looks like one, don't you think? hahah
I don't know maybe I just think the whole world looks like a clown.
By Lucky on Friday, April 26, 2002 - 07:09 am: |
Oohh he's all Clockworky... Ummm legends?? Hmmm... Karla should be the Smiley Face legend.
I think Tam should be a legend too. Her posts were intriguing... Ian's Monkeys In A Speedboat idea could be classed as legendary couldn't it? Hoho!
How cute is '-chew chew chew-'??
By indigo on Friday, April 26, 2002 - 04:47 pm: |
oh i love Dress to Kill! Is that the one with "the best thing for an army is the element of surprise! And what's more surprising than the first transvestite platoon coming over the horizon"...
By BIG BRETT on Friday, April 26, 2002 - 08:16 pm: |
I AM THE *BIGGEST* COPING LEGEND OF ALL TIME!
AND THE LOUDEST AND MOST PERSISTANT!
By Karla on Friday, April 26, 2002 - 08:24 pm: |
*well we all shine ooooon, like the mooooon and the stars and the sun, yeah yeah*
*ahem*
yeah Indigo, that's the one! One of my favorites was the disney skit where he pokes fun at
disneyland being built in europe, and he was just making fun of the whole thing you know
"I think disney better build bigger ones because we already have those in europe...and they're
not made out of PLASTIC" LoL, I know the way he said it had me laughing for days though, hahah :D
And Lucky...smiley face legend? what makes you say that?
by the way OR, I don't know what the hell I was thinking, but I think I must've been stoned or something when I wrote that message up there!

COPING LEGENDS OF THE WORLD UNITE AND TAKE OVER!

Yeah!
By indigo on Sunday, April 28, 2002 - 10:28 am: |
Oh god, have any of you seen "A day in the death of Joe Egg", with Eddie Izzard in it? Some of it was unbelievably funny, and then some of it actually made me cry (not so unusual at home, but not when I'm sat in a theatre!)
By Thomas Williams thinks Lukas is to blame for coping's downfall on Sunday, April 28, 2002 - 08:23 pm: |
Yeah!
By Karla on Tuesday, April 30, 2002 - 04:58 pm: |
I haven't seen that indigo...
By indigo on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 - 02:25 pm: |
Oh, it's really good but really sad. It's a play about a couple with a severely disabled daughter, and Izzard's the dad. Doesn't sound like it would have much humour in it but it does! It was on TV a few weeks ago, so it's probably on video somewhere.
By Karla on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 - 10:47 pm: |
Thanx indigo!
By Nathallie on Saturday, May 11, 2002 - 05:59 am: |
Wow Indigo - I've posted quite a bit. I can't remember what my first post was (on the first board or this one; the second, yes, because it was slightly embarrasing and was glad to see it go). Crazy times, my luvs!
Have a wonderful day, and always keep confidence that even if the sky is overcast and crying, the sun is always constant just that little higher up.
Please make someone smile today.

HAHAHABOOMBOOM! ME NEITHER LUCKY!
Talking of chemisty, here's a hot picture for all the coping birds to get excited over! This is me at our gig at Hull university last week where I met ADAMc!
By Anonymous on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 - 09:21 pm: |
I randomly think anyone enjoyed that picture.
By indigo on Wednesday, June 5, 2002 - 04:07 pm: |
I think Anonymous missed out a word there.

By Brett on Wednesday, June 5, 2002 - 08:35 pm: |
Indeed anon! I think you meant "Everyone" instead of "Anyone". But that doesn't suprise me from someone who is so ashamed of their spelling that they dont type their name, HAHAHABOOMBOOM!
Since you all enjoyed my last picture so much I have another recent band photo for all you coping birds to drool over! hahahaboomboom! and all the coping lads cuz BIG BREAST is in it!
it's to promote our new single which is a slowish soppy song about a tragedy.
The song is written by me and wee brett about devastating moments in our lives when we run out of booze, or moments when you go to brothel only to find out its shut, or even when you pull a bird who wont sleep with you on the first night!
its a very sad song and i broke out in tears after singing it because i just remembered i forgot to order the bands truck-load of beer for the weekend! *sob*
ANYROAD! i dont want to talk about it anymore so here's the picture we'll be using on the single cover for our so far "anonymous" song! do any of you's have any suggestions for the title?
By BIG BILL MURPHY on Thursday, June 6, 2002 - 05:58 am: |
Yeah, I got a suggestion...
Call it "The Day Big Bill Finally Caught Up With Me And Glassed Me In The Bollocks!"
By BIG STEVE BASS PLAYER on Thursday, June 6, 2002 - 06:05 am: |
NICE ONE!
