Ahhh! Blur have been in Damon's Ladbroke Grove studio (where they recorded lots of 13) in the past week starting a new album! How exciting! I'm going to have to buy bloody NME again......

I was just reading a graham interview in some guitar mag and he said that blur are recording a new album. He also made the amusing comment that it will be a weird album because all members are stuck in different times eg. Alex is stuck in the 20th century, Dave in the 21st century and Gray said he's stuck in the medieval ages. LoL!

i wonder where damon's stuck then...
By lady viola on Thursday, November 29, 2001 - 06:42 am: |
damon's always in a world of his own...

Partly right.. Damon's ON a world of his own...
But if Graham says they're recording too, then I guess Damon's not just messing around again.

Nope - they hope to have an album out late next year. YAYAYAYAYAY! Let's just hope it isn't 12 MIMRs.

Hey, I really like Music is my Radar, it is my favorite blur song of all.
And indigo, go to york uni, york is a much nicer place to live than Cambridge.
By indigo on Thursday, November 29, 2001 - 10:48 pm: |
Yeah, I've only been to Cambridge once and i was really surprised at how small the city is, much smaller than Oxford. Wednesday is my first visit to York, but it looks lovely in the prospectus (but then they all do!). The only thing is Cambridge is an hour away whereas York is halfway to Edinburgh. *sigh* the decisions! Ahh, i don't think I'll get AAA anyway (yeah right! I KNOW I won't get that) so I'll just have to decide between Courtaulds (London), Warwick, Nottingham or York, assuming I get offers of about ABB to BBB from all of them.
Ohhh the stressssss

I like the beginning and end of the "Music is my Radar" song the middle lyric is mush. I can hear the William Orbit influence and I think this is bad because it sounds too modified. forced improvision. you shouldn't be able to hear the person mixing the song, Blur is being blurrrrred flipped and mixed into some hybrid.
Speaking of medival: Whenever I hear the beginning of Bettlebum I can't help thinking about the vikings marching into battle.???
By tracey on Friday, November 30, 2001 - 03:23 pm: |
I agree Music is my radar is a good blur song , but I wouldn't say its my fave

By CaffinepoweredEggplant on Friday, November 30, 2001 - 11:39 pm: |
It's Eggplant and it's probably all the caffine talking. I have exams during December and I'm on this caffine fix. Coffee, tea, red bull, powerbars, anything.
By Butter~Mobile on Sunday, December 2, 2001 - 07:06 pm: |
Um, this isn't Blur news, but a couple of you seem to be mistaking me for this "weird" Eggplant persona, I guess because she's sometimes "Fried" or "Buttered".
I don't mind if Eggplant is Fried, Buttered, or even Twirréd, but she's not me.
By indigo on Sunday, December 2, 2001 - 10:33 pm: |
yeah, i thought it was you posting. oh good, more mistaken identities to liven up Coping and confuse me!
By Butter~Mobile on Monday, December 3, 2001 - 08:40 am: |
Well, I don't think Eggplant SOUNDS anything like me, but I suppose the point is moot. But yah, a new fangled, fun & fresh identity is just what this site needs to ROCK all over again!!!11

My real name is: Liz Hoffmaster
My friend Cheri turns 21 tomorrow. She used to come on here years ago too.
By Scampervan on Tuesday, December 4, 2001 - 04:48 am: |
Hmmmm, Liz Hoffmaster, Hoffmaster. *furrows brow*
I give up. What are you famous for?
Sorry.
Happy birthday to Cheri.
You sure you don't mean Cher?
By Eggplant on Tuesday, December 4, 2001 - 05:10 am: |
I persoanlly, I am not "really" famous yet. I've published 4 poems and been in lots of art shows But I haven't been marketed to the masses.yet.
I guess I'm famous(from my friends and family) for my fast driving, my clothing style, loud drunk behavior, art, perspective and always getting into trouble(sometimes).
My family owns a lot of stuff in the area:
Hoffmaster's marina(Ocqoquan river) , Falcon Hotel(OBX), The Framing Guild(in falls church)ect. And the Hoffmaster's brewery in Stuttgart, germany.
Thanks for the shout out to Cheri, I'll tell her when I see here tomorrow. I can't wait it will be a blast. You only turn 21 once, we'll make sure she'll never forget it. I can see it now: She'll be throwing up in my car.... night night

ok, more news:
OASIS/BLUR HEAD-TO-HEAD DENIED
A spokesperson for BLUR has denied tabloid reports that the group will go head-to-head with OASIS with their new album releases later this year.
Oasis have now almost completed work on their new studio album, which as reported previously on NME.COM, has been given a working title of 'Heathen Chemistry'.
The record was due for completion late last year, but Noel Gallagher delayed the release while his brother Liam completed his vocal duties.
Now, according to today's The Sun newspaper (January 17), the record will be released in June, the same month as the new album from Britpop rivals Blur.
Blur finally started recording their new album late last year - putting paid to rumours of fall-outs amongst the group and fears they had finally split.
Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree started writing together in Damon's own Ladbroke Grove studio after months apart following the phenomenal success of Damon's side project Gorillaz.
Blur are rumoured to have completed ten songs for the album. However, a spokesperson for the group told NME.COM the album is still far from complete, and the band haven't themselves talked about a release date yet. She added that everyone is "very pleased" with the progress made so far.
A spokesperson for Oasis also dismissed the report.

More news:
Apparantly blur are to release the album, do a 2 month tour of Europe and the USA then they are to split!
The album is also meant to be fucking awful since they couldnt stand being in the room long enough to write the songs or record properly.
By Smirkie on Monday, February 4, 2002 - 06:51 am: |
ummm...Sarki? Like, where exactly did you hear that? Do you have a source for that info.?
By indigo on Tuesday, March 5, 2002 - 09:53 pm: |
okay, seeing as I'm too tired to come up with some smart quip today, Here's some news:
DAMON ALBARN has admitted his work with GORILLAZ caused tension between the members of his other band BLUR.
Albarn has spent much of the last 12 months working on the animated cartoon project, which has been hugely successful across the globe. Speaking in this week's Time Out listings magazine, he said that it took him a while to convince the remaining members of the group that he hadn't walked out on Blur.
He commented: "I couldn't really not make a big deal about Gorillaz. I don't think they were particularly cool about it. But...we're in the studio now and we're written 14 tracks in four weeks and I think everyone sees that I wasn't leaving the band in any way - I was just filling my mind and my heart with things that gave me a real reason to go and do justice to a band that we've worked so hard on building up."
He said that when the band entered the studio as Blur to work on the new album by Marianne Faithfull, to which they contribute a track, things came to a head.
He continued: "For the band, it wasn't one of the best experiences. Partly for obvious reasons, and partly for reasons that are private. It wasn't a good time for the band. We didn't want to be with each other. Bands are like that. But I'm sure Marianne (Faithfull) will say that she brought the band back together in her wonderfully 60s way. She's a very extraordinary woman."
A new Blur album is due for release later this year or early 2003!!!!!

By fret on Thursday, March 7, 2002 - 12:25 am: |
