God, confusing! i pay Amazon my £6.34 (ha ha, diddled them out of £5.88 thanks to "manipulation" of the refer-a-friend system) for a copy of Starshaped (sans promos, damn the idiot who took them away!)and there's no Star-Shaped! AAARGH
Actually, it's a pretty good video (but not worth what it is on Amazon)but its very short. There are lovely scenes of Damon and Graham throwing up, Alex looking like a very effeminate mop, Damon having a piss at a service station and also scenes of them all singing Postman Pat. There's also the Wassailing Song, which is not worth buying the video to hear. Oh well. They all look so young and sweet! Damon looks kind of like a possessed, drunken elf in a suit. They're so much smarter than now ... ( I think this was mentioned on another topic)
Anyway, anyonewant to contribute their thoughts on any Blur videos? I'm gonna be up till about 1 am tonight, waiting for Kid A to be played in full on XFM.

Damn you beat me to it! You didn't include 2Unlimited though. And although my version has Sunday Sunday on the back twice, it only appears once. Odd.
By cazcaz on Thursday, September 21, 2000 - 09:46 am: |
mine doesn't have starshaped on it. but I think Sunday Sunday is on it twice.
thanx for me.
By Anonymous on Thursday, September 21, 2000 - 01:11 pm: |
But mine does have it on! Starshaped is on it, i remember listening to it...maybe I have a bogus tape an you don't.
By kacy on Thursday, September 21, 2000 - 02:28 pm: |
Starshaped is definitely not on it. I love it though...so entertaining. Damon was such a spaz, it's amazing he didn't kill himself in the early days. Is 2 Unlimited the song that's playing on the bus? I love when they're singing "explain" on the bus and they're all laying in a drunken heap, except for Alex who just raises his eyebrows and points at them. Alex and Damon "crossing swords" is quite amusing too.
By Joe on Thursday, September 21, 2000 - 06:06 pm: |
Yeah. Do I even know you any more?
By Ian on Thursday, September 21, 2000 - 06:44 pm: |
No, 2Unlimited is in the scene where Damon is at the service station and goes "...and here you have your culture"

Hee hee hee I just keep remembering the bit where they all walk off at the end holding hands and then I get the bloody Wassailing song in my head! Damn, I might have to get to grips with MP3 and actually download it....
Ha, that would finally prove to my mum that I have gone mad. She watched the vid last night when I was out (i left it in the video), and when I came home she was going, "is that blur? who's the gay one and the nerdy one with red hair?"
She managed to put me off watching it for the 20th time, so I watched the Shining instead. What a great film!
By floppy on Wednesday, September 27, 2000 - 03:38 pm: |
so was the gay one for her damon or alex? heeeheee my parents would never do that. they don't want to know....
By Father Christmas on Thursday, September 28, 2000 - 06:43 am: |
Oh yeah cos Blur are just so bad arent they? So very bad, very bad - best keep the parents away from them.
By floppy on Thursday, September 28, 2000 - 02:53 pm: |
it's a secret...they must never find out....
By sarah on Thursday, September 28, 2000 - 08:13 pm: |
my parents quite like Blur actually... my mum's seen them live twice. i suppose you shouldn't like the same music as your parents and i don't all the time, but i'm not going to deny myself Blur just cause my rental unit (parents, for you un-cool people!) like them. but i'm the one with the box-set who knows all the b-sides and the full names of dave's immediate family! i do enlighten them with handy facts now and then, like what damon got in his a-levels and other life-enhancing information.

upon hearing the album Parklife about 5 years ago, my father mumbled something about 'the brits...they know how to do music' or something like that. that is the closest thing to praise i'll ever hear him say about anything i like.
By kacy on Friday, September 29, 2000 - 02:26 pm: |
Closest to praise they ever got from my mum was that she did turn TNOW up in the car once. And yes, Blur are so bad, keep them away from the parents, naughty boys, they are a more degrading influence than, say, limp bizkit any day.

why is there no wine in the wine gum?
why is there no loo in the loop?
why is there no tea in a teabag???????????
By indigo on Friday, September 29, 2000 - 10:48 pm: |
Whaddaya mean, there's no tea in teabags?
By indigo on Friday, September 29, 2000 - 10:49 pm: |
FYI, my mum thought Alex was the gay one! I've forced her to know all the words to Parklife and MLIR, but when I play Blur she just tuts and mumbles about early Bowie. If I play 13 she starts asking if it's Radiohead!
I give up.....
I don't mind having a similar musical taste to my mum (we totally agree on bands up to about 1994, with the exception of Roxy Music). However, it's so infuriating when she doesn't understand my desperate need to see Blur live. She phoned up for Meltdown tickets when i was out, but didn't get me one because me and my sister would have to have separate seats!
Actually, maybe shes getting to me. Is it odd to not care that you are sitting on your own at a concert? Hmm, your thoughts please..
By floppy on Saturday, September 30, 2000 - 02:11 pm: |
re: gay. I asked b/c one of my friends thought that Damon was gay after seeig the G&B vid. Although there are times in Starshaped where Alex is really really feminine. Anyway, seeing that Meltdown was a special type of concert, more of a showcase it seems to me, I don't think that I'd care if there were separate seats. Kinda like going to the movies, you know? Maybe your mom didn't get you tix cos she thought you or your sister wasn't old enough to be alone? I don't know....anyway that's superfrustrating
By indigo on Saturday, September 30, 2000 - 09:25 pm: |
Yeah, but I've got over it (sobsob, slap scream aaargh the men in white coats are here stop it!)
hmmm, anyway, is it sad to have just registered mrscoxon@ilovegraham.co.uk ? I'm undecided once again (or maybe it was that dangerous alter ego of mine, Spacegirl. Aah yes, the blue pill, THEN the yellow pill. Thats much better. Off I go to dream about the Radiohead concert....)
By kacy on Monday, October 2, 2000 - 03:33 am: |
s'alright, I'm grahams_lost_sister@ilovegraham.co.uk. ;) and MeMeMe@ilovealex.co.uk. Pity they don't have ilovedamon.co.uk.

Thank the multi headed god that is Blur, i have found someone else at my level of obsession!

They all seem a bit camp in the video I think.
