Blur?

Coping: Blur general: Blur?
By WaldoMontoya on Friday, August 3, 2001 - 03:21 am:

I had heard "Song 2" played at the arena football games during touchdown dances 1,000 times in my hometown, but did not know it was Blur. So I was in the music store and picked up the Best Of Blur. I am a new Blur fan. Beautiful songs. I love these guys. Cool huh.

By Butter~Twirrélinova on Friday, August 3, 2001 - 03:49 am:

The idea of thousands of football hooligans screaming "WOO~HOO!" in unison is absolutely nightmarish.

By indigo on Friday, August 3, 2001 - 10:23 am:

Yet not as disturbing as Robbie Williams murdering it in concert. Actually, although I can't stand any form of sport, I don't have anything against Song 2 being played at matches! It's kind of nice to hear a favourite song- Song 2 has been on the Simpsons, a car advert... but I am glad that Blur refused permission for it to soundtrack a missile launch.

IIIIINNNNNNNDDDDDDDIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOO!!!!!
(can't you just picture me yelling that out yearningly over the moors? (if i only i even knew what/where those were ... ) a bit like a devastated tarzan ... ah. hope you're all having fun.)
love, nat.

By indigo on Saturday, August 4, 2001 - 09:57 am:

Nat - That was a perfect impression of what you would sound like screaming my name over the moors. BTW, moors are big flattish pieces of open country, usually bleak and windswept with nobody living on them. In films and books they're a handy location to have lovestricken/murderous/dying people wandering over in a thunderstorm. There is a moor at Dartmoor and Exmoor (which I think are in the south of England, although my geography is dire so don't believe me) and some Yorkshire Moors which are definitely in Yorkshire. Yes. Hmm, that's in the north of england.

That is the sum total of all I know about moors.

By Nathallie on Saturday, August 18, 2001 - 07:23 am:

and some corny joke about that being "moor than anyone should know"? (or are you just to good for that? HUH? HUH?)

thank you indigo darling.

By The News on Wednesday, October 31, 2001 - 03:22 pm:

Damon Albarn has ended his long-running feud with Liam Gallagher and has admitted he respects the Oasis frontman.

Speaking backstage at the Q Awards last night, the Blur singer said that six years of "bad blood" between the two had finally been settled.

The pair were spotted hugging each other backstage during the awards ceremony at London's Park Lane Hotel.

Speaking to a UK tabloid, Damon claimed it was "a beautiful moment".
"It's fine between us now. I really respect him."

"He's a great singer. He says what he thinks and so do I. It was great to see him and I like him. Publicly we fight it out but privately we get on fine."

Damon

Albarn also confirmed reports, as first revealed on dotmusic, that he had recorded a track with D12 following the terror attacks in America.

Despite his countless side-projects, Damon also said that Blur are working on a new album.

ah, so its Dotmusic reports you're cut and pasting......

It's the only up-to-date Blur news we get on blur.org.uk these days.

By Hallie on Saturday, November 3, 2001 - 04:10 am:

and i humbly thank you, if no one else will ...

BLLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAHT! i just got to the "after-end" track of black market music. i will go back to watch the wedge now. is sook-yin gone now, whoever knows what i'm on about?

ah, wishing you barrels of lovely nights -

~ Nat.

By Hallie on Saturday, November 3, 2001 - 04:27 am:

mmm, okay, in that set they played the vid for pulp's "the trees". 1st i've seen of it, maybe 2nd i've heard ... mmm wow. quite beautiful, though i'd like to hear it more.

(sidenote: any sexier 40-ish yr old than jarvis, in his vids, of course. slightly less than palatable at times in interviews)

By indigo on Saturday, November 3, 2001 - 09:13 am:

I don't know how sexy Jarvis is (at the moment he's higher than Damon on the scale but lower than Courtney Taylor). This is probably just going on hair.

Oooh i like that "secret" track on BMM too! usually they're crap or i don't know they're there (or I leave the CD running when i think it's finished and I give myself a heart attack half an hour later when a ghostly voice suddenly starts). Have I gone on about the Placebo gig at Brixton enough yet? No, I don't think so.....*drifts off into reverie about Brian Molko and his Bitch*....

By heather on Saturday, November 3, 2001 - 10:33 am:

i like the secret track on the first placebo album..

(* of course courtney is sexier than jarvis, but which one do you think is more arrogant?*)

By Nat on Sunday, November 4, 2001 - 07:54 pm:

this is the first article about courtney i've read:

http://www.mostbeautifulman.com/newsmencourtney.html

i wanna hear your story, indigo!!! (oh my, that came out as "indigod" for a bit ... stiff 'board & sticky keys i guess!)

in interviews, mister cocker comes off as a sort of creepy old uncle, you think? 'cos he's scrawny and has the geek clothes and smells of alley sex.

By The Occifer on Sunday, November 4, 2001 - 09:21 pm:

Haw haw. Courtney's hilarious.

By indigo on Monday, November 5, 2001 - 04:40 pm:

smells of alley sex huh? hadnt actually thought about it, but I see what you mean!
I don't have a story about placebo, I just saw them on the 18th October and it was the best gig of my life! Plus, I saw a bloke who looked exactly like the one with spiky hair out of King Adora, right down to the beads and the eyeliner. I think I may have scared him by yelling KING ADORA! at my sister - I was always the one for subtlety!

By chris on Tuesday, November 6, 2001 - 04:02 pm:

LOL@indifo

By chris on Tuesday, November 6, 2001 - 04:03 pm:

indigo I ment!
LMAO

By indigo on Tuesday, November 6, 2001 - 04:45 pm:

ah, subtlety goes out of the window when you're dressed in full goth gear (i.e. makeup almost as heavy as your jewellery, long trailing black and silver spiderwebby sleeves and stripy tights) and running round Brixton with your insane mates, too excited to remember where the tube station is. I have the best photo of us all dressed up, scaring people on the train. mwahahaha!

By Hallie on Wednesday, November 7, 2001 - 12:39 am:

*can i see it, please please please?* (oh, let me get what i want! c'mon now ... )

By indigo on Wednesday, November 7, 2001 - 10:03 pm:

hmmm..... no. Not that I don't WANT a picture with such ripe blackmail possibilities posted on the net, but my new Mac doesn't have a scanner! Sorry! Maybe in a few weeks time...

By The News on Sunday, November 11, 2001 - 05:15 am:

It seems that Liam Gallagher and Damon Albarn are back at war following their short-lived truce.

As someone else reported a little while ago, the long-time rivals had been seen hugging backstage at the Q Awards, with Damon even telling reporters that he "really respects" the Oasis frontman.

"Stand by me"

However, Gallagher quickly tired of the politeness and decided to provoke Damon at the aftershow party that evening.

According to a UK tabloid, Gallagher spotted the Damon at the bar of Just St. James and delivered a half-hour verbal attack.

Liam allegedly pinned the singer against the bar, angry at Albarn's invitation for the Oasis singer to join the Gorillaz:

"I don't know why you said I was joining that fucking band, because I'm fucking not."

Onlookers report that Damon was rather bemused and left the party with friends shortly.

Thank goodness. I was beginning to get worried.
