Vote out Labour!

Coping: Blur general: Vote out Labour!
By BIG BRETT MP in small letters starting another serious political debate on Tuesday, September 12, 2000 - 10:26 pm:

Isn't it about time Labour went? what a balls up they made. They seem to play around with things like people dont care and not tell us what we are doing which is why I would like to know who you would vote for in the next election even if you aint old enough to vote
That Prescott is a joke in ne?
Sitting on the front of that private bus grinning like a cheshire cat even though it was his own bus!
And he tells us to use small cars or public transport!
I bet the fat bastard couldnt even fit in a small car which is why he drives 10 mile to the gallon jags! (4 miles to the gallon with his weight!)
I know this may sound odd for me and you might think I'm mad but I DONT want to start an arguement, I just want to hear your views.
Personally I hate labour
tony bLIAR! sounds a good news headline dont u fink?

By Chris on Tuesday, September 12, 2000 - 10:50 pm:

Wow, a serious political debate. I don't think we've had one of those for a while. I'm not sure who to vote for yet, but it certainly won't be Tory. I think Labour have achieved some good things - reform in the Lords, increased national spending, the New Deal, economic growth, cuts in unemployment, the minimum wage etc - but their foreign policy is not particularly ethical, and imposing tuition fees was unfair. So I'm undecided between them and the Lib Dems, who these days seem to be occupying the gap vacated by Labour when it decided to abandon it's ideological roots and become the party of Middle England. Oh yes, and Labour haven't got rid of Grammar Schools like they promised.

So probably Lib Dems, they seem to be very reputable party that avoid doing things like stirring up the Daily Mail readers over immigration, or pandering to the elite, hence their calls for increased taxation of very high earners.

Speaking of Blair headlines, I was watching Have I Got News For You tonight, and one of the headlines displayed on the set was "Tony Blur". I wonder what the connection is there? Could be the fact he said he "quite likes 13". So that's one person then...

By BB on Tuesday, September 12, 2000 - 10:56 pm:

Call me thick (cos i is thick) but what were they trying to achieve by the minimum wage? it seems to have done more harm than good in my eyes.
I think the Tories are shite too. I think they should get someone who is proven to make a success of things such as Richard Branson, it's a well known fact that all cival servants are over paid otherwise they wouldnt be working for the government.

By R~S~P on Wednesday, September 13, 2000 - 01:52 pm:

BB, try asking someone who was trying to survive on £2.20 an hour. And don't go on about companies having to lay folk off to pay higher wages, it's just been on the radio that unemployment is at it's lowest for years. I'm not saying this is a good government, cos I'm not sure there is such a thing, but the Tories had nigh on twenty years in power and fucked the country right up. I think Labour should at least have a chance to find their feet and have a blast at sorting it out.

By Eddy on Wednesday, September 13, 2000 - 02:09 pm:

Who gives a shit about politics. In the Western world, all major opposing parties are exactly the same, just with different names and colours.

They all make the same fuck ups, they do every thing just the same.

It is pointless to care, cos at the end of the day it really means shit all.

By Chris on Wednesday, September 13, 2000 - 06:15 pm:

It's important to care, because our democracies allow us a say in the running of our countries. Without this right (and the will to make use of it) we're back to square one -ie medieval dictatorships in which the parliament is ignored.
I'm not sure of what the party political situation is like in your country but here Labour and the Conservatives are very different and the UK has been changed in several ways since 1997, as RSP pointed out.

And I'm not sure whether civil servants are over-paid - a Customs & Excise executive officer in London will earn just c.£16,000 a year, and a clerical worker for the same department gets only £9,000 per year. That's much less than you would earn by doing an equivalent job in the private sector.

By indigo on Wednesday, September 13, 2000 - 09:59 pm:

I have to say I'm really disappointed in labour. Who was the guy that had a heart attack and ran the party before Tony "Blur" (god what a funny headline ha ha ha and it was on that very old episode of HIGNFY because Tony was still on the britpop wagon) ? I liked him better. Tony Blair's so slimy, isn't he? Is it just me that sees something really threatening in those staged photos of his family holidays?
Very 1984....

I'm gonna vote Green when I'm 18. Actually, I'd vote anything to stop that slimy little bastard William Hague! He looks like a boiled foetus doesn't he? And on the news about petrol, he was just grinning his odious little head off giving a pathetically self-righteous speech - under the tories, petrol would be 2p a gallon, beer would be free, the skies would be blue...

Jesus Christ i despair of politics!

By BB on Wednesday, September 13, 2000 - 10:23 pm:

I think I agree allot with Eddy cos all MPs are basically shit heads. Why not introduce performance related pay? Let Prescott sort the public transport out and then give him 2 flash jags to zoom around the better quieter roads in.
Why not take the loss the dome is making out of their wages? what the country really needs is basic bisiness minds (like me) who can look at things straightforward and in the eyes of the public, screw MPs - they live on a planet of their own (even further from the planet BIG BRETT)
And come on, I still do not understand the minimum wage. If you dont want a job with £2.20 an hour then leave it. a bloke near me used to hire a young retard (mentally disabled person as this is a PC topic) who used to do tasks such as cleaning him up but now they cant hire him because he could not afford to really pay him the minimum wage. I mean whos going to emply a dick like me for £3.50 an hour! I think I'll go into politics

By Thomas Williams on Sunday, September 24, 2000 - 10:46 pm:

Yeah!

By sarah on Sunday, September 24, 2000 - 10:58 pm:

I would vote Labour; I disagree with a lot they have done (tuition fees, foreign policy, pandering too much to middle England voters), but they are in my view the best of the 3 main parties. If there was a more left-wing party in the national elections I would probably vote for them, but, as it is, my main aim would be to keep the tories out of power. Well, um, that's my opinion.

By sarah on Sunday, September 24, 2000 - 11:01 pm:

why don't more people go on marches and protests these days? it seems like way back in the 60s and 70s people were a lot less apathetic and more politically active. seriously, i'm interested, what do you think?

By Eddy on Monday, September 25, 2000 - 03:43 pm:

There are no marches anymore cos there is nothing to revolt against.

In a historical context at the present time, there is no racism, there is no poverty, there is no unemployment, the Kids have nothing to get fucked off about.

That's why Sarah.

By sarah on Monday, September 25, 2000 - 05:38 pm:

oh. right.

By FoxyLady on Tuesday, September 26, 2000 - 01:03 am:

*sigh* can someone PLEASE say hi to Emma for me. I'll miss ya'll. BlurChat rocks!!! when r ya'll gonna start emailing me?

By Eddy on Tuesday, September 26, 2000 - 02:04 pm:

Oh for Christs sake, don't soil this topic (as well as so many others) with those crappy messages. Start your own.

Anyway, back to Labour......

By FoxyLady on Friday, September 29, 2000 - 07:51 am:

OH SHUT UP EDDY YOU R SO RUDE. I'm sick of your attitude to me, so I'm fighting back now, which you can't hack. it's just really nasty and negative of you to say these things and the joke is on YOU coz YOUR the one making yourself look stupid and I would never email you if you ever did you'd be completely wasting your time, so you see, I've got the last laugh now! I'd never email you Eddy only my true friends LOL

By Eddy on Friday, September 29, 2000 - 03:05 pm:

Well, no real need for the outburst.

You have actually e-mailed me before Foxy, and I also don't care if you do or don't e-mail me.

I fail to see the joke, there is no joke on me, and I also can't see the point of putting a personal message in the middle of a political discussion.

To interupt a conversation is rude.

I am not fighting back, I'm putting you in your place. And I am "hacking" this outburst rather well, so its quite silly to say that I'm not.

If she is a true friend, why do you have to always ask us to tell your mate to get in contact with you?

By FoxyLady on Friday, September 29, 2000 - 11:53 pm:

OK LOL I've calmed down LOL!Emma is my good friend and I love her so much and I miss her bad. Eddy is just cranky y'all

By Eddy on Sunday, October 1, 2000 - 01:56 pm:

haha, In no way am I cranky. I think there is sufficient proof that you have the crankiness on this thread. How entertaining.

By FoxyLady on Monday, October 2, 2000 - 10:30 am:

Duh@Eddy. Whatever, you talk about me in a way that is so annoyig. So mind your own business and leave me out of it!!! Take a hike and stop this and let me get on with stuff

By Eddy on Monday, October 2, 2000 - 01:21 pm:

Boo Hoo, I'm so sad, where is my friend. Please e-mail me, Coping Rocks!

Oh shit, sorry, wrong topic, that had nout to do with Labour.

By indigo on Monday, October 2, 2000 - 08:16 pm:

Right, back to the serious political discussion?.........

By Big Brett on Wednesday, April 18, 2001 - 11:03 pm:

Yeah, fuck off Foxylady. We were here first
Speaking of foxes, I like shooting them

By Indigoe on Thursday, April 19, 2001 - 12:43 am:

Right, back to that serious political discussion?

By indigo on Thursday, April 19, 2001 - 10:24 am:

is Indigoe pretending to be me? Or is it just a lack of imagination?

By Indigoe on Friday, April 20, 2001 - 09:19 pm:

no I'm not pretending to be you. call it lack of imagination if you must be so rude. any way, i'll start using another name when I think of one. I haven't yet.
I was just enjoyning the political argument here. It's a shame Foxy fucked it up : it's as simple as that.

By indigo on Saturday, April 21, 2001 - 09:22 am:

that's alright, I was only rude because someone pretended to be me a while ago and it all got a bit messy....

By Indigoe on Sunday, April 22, 2001 - 08:07 am:

Oh. ok then. I'm planning my new name to avoid confusion.....

By ChrisZ on Thursday, December 13, 2001 - 09:43 am:

hmmm, did Indigoe ever start using a new name then?
LOL

By Chris on Thursday, December 13, 2001 - 05:06 pm:
