What's the best way to pass the time? My vote goes to swinging. You could never get tired of swinging. True, you could fall off from dizziness and possibly puke, but it's lots of fun really...

By Scamp on Sunday, July 15, 2001 - 03:52 am:

Um. My vote goes to being on the Internet.

Isn't it depressing when you realise you're bored of being on the internet?

By Chris on Sunday, July 15, 2001 - 09:49 pm:

Nicest way to pass the time? For me it's spending an entire sunny May day in Greenwich Park counting squirrels, and then visiting one of the fine pubs nearby - it's called the Trafalgar and it's right on the waterfront of the Thames.

Shame my exams took place during the month when I 'discovered' Greenwich, but hopefully the results will absolve my reckless abandon. Even if they don't, it sure as hell was worth it guv'nor!

Swinging ? Is that the one where you swap partners and get it on with other couples ?

By Lucky on Monday, July 16, 2001 - 06:55 am:

Hahaha.

By Scamp on Monday, July 16, 2001 - 07:17 am:

Yup, Indigo. It sure is depressing when you realise you're bored with the Internet. Equally depressing is opening your hotmail and finding the only email is one saying "Your account size is too large".

And Chris, in Scampland, I'd call counting squirrels in a park followed by a night at the pub 'going out', not killing time, but I guess it's all relative.

best thing is to wank

shit! did i say that out loud?

By Kyle on Monday, July 16, 2001 - 01:35 pm:

S'okay, I don't think anyone noticed.

By indigo on Monday, July 16, 2001 - 04:35 pm:

Ah Chris! I was born in Greenwich! I haven't been back for years, but I spent all week there when it was really hot. Why don't more people know about it? The park is lovely isn't it, and the Trafalgar is a great pub - apart from the fact that it seems to be permanently dark, but then I suppose you could call it atmosphere. Rolling down the hill from the Observatory is probably a bad idea though. And I hadn't realised that you could see the Dome from my old house!

By Chris on Monday, July 16, 2001 - 04:47 pm:

Sorry my answer was inadequate Scamp, but in my defence I'd say that I saw it as killing time during my first year of university.

Indigo, I agree with everything you said, other than that rolling down the hill from the observatory is a bad idea. And what a hill that is, you can see St. Paul's Cathedral from the top! The only bad thing is when you leave the park at the end of the day and, in my case, step back into grey old Deptford. Living in Greenwich would be amazing though.

Do you not find that the Trafalgar is always really busy and you can't get a table? It's easier to get somewhere to sit at the Yacht next-door, which is less touristy too.

No need to feel defensive about it, Chris. If anything all it shows is that your life must contain more excitement than mine. Now that I think of it,I've often gotta kill time boozing in nightclubs that stay open until the first trains start.

I've done a lot of swinging recently, but it doesn't feel as good as when I was younger. I keep feeling sick and people walking past with their dogs make me feel inhibited for indulging at my advanced age.
