Damon and his T- shirts

Coping: Blur general: Damon and his T- shirts
By wakey on Sunday, June 24, 2001 - 06:49 pm:

Where does damon buy his cool t shirts from, u know the retro looking ones like what he was wearing for glasto 98 or the singles night gigs. coz all the shops down my neck of the woods are shite and dont sell anything decent.

graham wears some cool t shirts aswell, so there must be a shop that sell's them somewhere.

By Chris on Sunday, June 24, 2001 - 08:30 pm:

Apparently it's Camden. I've heard they're imported from the USA.

By wakey on Sunday, June 24, 2001 - 11:01 pm:

is there anywhere on the net that lets u buy them online ????? coz u gotta admit there pretty damn cool.

By Chris on Sunday, June 24, 2001 - 11:46 pm:

Sorry, I wouldn't know. I think it's just a market-stall.

By Joe on Monday, June 25, 2001 - 10:35 pm:

Fucking hell, if you want them so much then I'll get you one. They're only like two quid from anywhere in Camden. You can't fucking move for dodgy retro t-shirts.

By Butter~Twirré on Tuesday, June 26, 2001 - 07:19 pm:

I met Justine from Elastica at the beach once. I was only about 13 years old, but I had precocious taste in music, so I knew who she was. It was in the middle of the night, after the Big Day Out. I happened to be wearing the Micky Mouse tee~shirt Damon wears in the "Song 2" video, but this was at least a year before that video came out. Justine kept staring at me. I kept staring at Justine. Finally I broke the ice by approaching, than mumbling something to the effect that I was very sorry for staring, but I recognized her & she was one of my idols etc etc etc. She was most gracious about it, & remarked vaguely, "I just love that tee~shirt." She than stared out at the ocean, and I saw her face in beautiful side profile (she seemed amazingly more attractive in real life than in photo's/video's). As I gazed at her in semi~awe, she added wistfully, "Looks like something Damon would wear."

Ever since seeing the Song 2 video came out (I think about a year later?), I've nurtured a fantasy that Justine went back to England and held some kind of conversation with Damon, which might have gone a little like this:

Justine: "Damon?"

Damon: "Oh God, no, not tonight, luv, you KNEW when you met me I wasn't the horny type!"

Justine: "Don't be so daft. I've just taken some jolly nice dope, thank you very much, & I have no use for sex! It's about a tee~shirt I saw in Australia. I think it would suit you."

Damon: "Bollocks. Blokes don't wear tee~shirts in Australia."

Justine: "Oh, but this was a girl. A child! A creature, if you will, wandering the sea~side in the dead of night, under the Milky Way, as it were. It was a pale blue tee~shirt featuring a Micky Mouse icon...rounded neck and I daresay it would become you."

Damon: "For God's sakes, you're too smacked out again luv. You expect me to wear a girlie tee~shirt, and a LITTLE KID'S tee~shirt at that?"

Justine: "No. I'm adamant about this, Damon."

Damon: "Oh come on, let's just have a shag after all."

Justine: "How dare you! Keep that willy down your trousers, & may it bring you bad luck for the rest of your days!"

Damon: "Calm down, calm down. So what did you say this tee~shirt looked like again?"

Haw, haw, haw, Butter~Wagon. What a delightful post!

By Micky {The Lad} on Wednesday, June 27, 2001 - 09:37 pm:

What a load of bollox.

By The Occifer on Thursday, June 28, 2001 - 06:41 am:

I'll 'ave you, Micky. See this glass, yeah? I'll 'ave you in the squealers, mate.

By Chris on Thursday, June 28, 2001 - 09:02 pm:

Officer, can I ask which country you're from? It's just that your dialect seems to be British but your hours are a little irregular.

By indigo on Friday, June 29, 2001 - 05:20 pm:

ah, I went through an obsession with retro tees last year, but I got over it when i noticed how badly those second hand/retro clothes shops always smell. (You know, Rokit and those odd ones in Camden and Brighton. Kind of smells like mould. nice). They do look lovely on blokes though don't they? And Butter~Twirré, don't let anyone tell you that that's an unlikely scenario.

By The Occifer on Saturday, June 30, 2001 - 04:11 am:

You can ask which country I'm from if you like, Chris. I'm from Australia. I dont really drop my h's like that in real life though, nor do I threaten to glass other lads in the squealers. I was just taking the piss, Chris. Yeah. In fact, the only time I drop the letter h is when saying the letter h itself. Why do people insist on pronouncing it 'haitch', when it's actually pronounced 'aitch'?

By Butter~Tee on Saturday, June 30, 2001 - 12:04 pm:

Maybe because they like sounding like 'Jack the Lad Cockney's' (an expression I really did come across in a book last night, repeated not once, but several times).

They do look lovely on boys, don't they Miss Indigo? Still, I bought about half a dozen or so to wear myself from Camden, and trust me, they do not stink!!!1 I still buy from retro stores, but mainly because I can't afford anywhere else. I think we're very lucky to live in an era when such cheap clothes can pass as chic & classy. That's what I keep telling myself, any how.

By Joe on Saturday, June 30, 2001 - 05:31 pm:

I agree. It was a delightful post as well, it really brightened my day. It reminded me of a dream I had about jarvis Cocker living in a hut in Peru. It was amazing. At the end of the dream he sang the Wrestlemania song and danced through the streets with all the Peruvians. Easily in my top 5 dreams of all time.

By indigo on Saturday, June 30, 2001 - 05:32 pm:

Well, the clothes themselves don't often smell (although they do off cambridge market, like someones tried to set fire to them). I own a lot of retro tees, but they aren't exactly cheap are they? Sometimes you can buy them cheap, but (in Brighton especially) they're fucking ridiculous. Weird Samantha Fox eighties tshirts for £20 in Rokit? And some of them are just horrible. However, I did buy a great one with Rainbow Brite on last week from an Oxfam shop! I then made up for it by blowing £40 in Black Rose on spiderwebby goth tops. Oh well!

By Joe on Saturday, June 30, 2001 - 05:34 pm:

Oh HELLO INDIGO!

By indigo on Saturday, June 30, 2001 - 05:39 pm:

OH HELLO JOE!

By Joe on Sunday, July 1, 2001 - 07:11 pm:

Indigo, I've decided to wear a T-Short saying "speak to me indigo" to Radiohead so if you see me then you can. Also, all my friends won't know what it means and it sounds quite profound, in a sort of not kind of way.

By Joe on Sunday, July 1, 2001 - 07:11 pm:

I did of course mean t-shirt. Sorry.

By indigo on Monday, July 2, 2001 - 05:30 pm:

It does sound quite cool doesn't it? And what sort of clothing would a T-Short be? Something to think about during the long long nights.

Anyway, YAYAYAYAYAY!!!! Radiohead!!!!! IN FIVE DAYS!!!!! And the lovely little Mr Hansen, and the Superb Grass. heeeheehheee. Hmmm, if you see two weird girls giggling to each other, that'll be me and my sister.

Still on a T-Shirt vibe, news is that Trey Parker and Matt Stone of the cartoon South Park fame are doing the t-shirts for this gig, which is in South Park in Oxford. See, it all works out doesn't it?

By indigo on Wednesday, July 4, 2001 - 03:49 pm:

it does - and what the hell was that rumour on nme.com that Radiohead were actually going to be in a South Park episode? A bad piss take, a hoax or just madness?

By Lucky on Wednesday, July 4, 2001 - 06:12 pm:

According to the world today, I'm pretty sure it's madness.

By Arresting Occifer on Thursday, July 5, 2001 - 04:14 am:

I was just thinking about the day you met Justine Fishmonger and Dave McCormack of Custard fame on the beach, Butter~Wagon, when a Custard song lyric came to mind. I can't remember what song it's from, nor even which album - it could be from the deep, dark, murky depths of either Loverama or We Have The Technology. Anyway, Dave sings, in a rather mournful fashion, "I'm good with faces, no good with names."
Interesting, seeing as the next time he bumped into you he remembered not just your face but your name too, dont you think? You do have a beautiful name, though. And you are a beautiful girl. That could explain it, I suppose.
It was quite a shame when they split up last year, I must say. His new band is rather average, even with (or should I say, 'especially with'?) Emma Tom on bass guitar duties.

By Chris on Thursday, July 5, 2001 - 07:38 am:

LOL *shakes head* You're crazy Occifer...

By The Occifer on Friday, July 6, 2001 - 05:43 am:

Oh yeah, I only pretend to be sane.
But hold on, don't you shake your head at me, Chis my boy! What was crazy about that? It's all true.

By Chris on Friday, July 6, 2001 - 03:17 pm:

Will the person above calling himself Chris please think of something different? Your use of my name is causing everyone a lot of confusion.

By chris on Saturday, July 7, 2001 - 03:46 am:

I'm not *using your name*!! It's my name too! Feck off. And I DO think that was a crazy message Officer! LOL

By Chris on Saturday, July 7, 2001 - 09:42 pm:

It's my name. You are using it. Hence you are using my name. Do you want me to draw you a diagram or what?!

By Chris on Sunday, July 8, 2001 - 12:52 am:

It's my name TOO, and it's YOU who are using it! *Hence* you are using my name which also is your name. (see, atleast I admit it's not JUST my name, you megalomaniac!) I think one of us should do what Toby did when there was two Toby's and become ChrisZ and the other one can stay Chris. Deal?

By Chris on Sunday, July 8, 2001 - 11:30 am:

Good idea ChrisZ.

By Chris on Monday, July 9, 2001 - 08:02 am:

LOL.I handed that one to you on a platter,I'll admit that,ChrisZ

By Chris on Monday, July 9, 2001 - 06:48 pm:

As the first Chris (out of the two of us) to use these pages I reserve the right to the title. My offer of recognising you as ChrisZ is generous enough; do not try my patience.

By *ANGIE!* : lilest kitten on Monday, July 9, 2001 - 08:49 pm:
