Blur's worst song?

Coping: Blur general: Blur's worst song?
By Chris on Monday, February 19, 2001 - 06:45 pm:

Before playing 'Bang', Damon once introduced it as Blur's "worst song". Can this be right? I for one cannot think of a single Blur song that I really don't like, although I sometimes go straight to 'Bugman' on 13.

My apologies to long-term Copers as there must have been a topic like this before.

By stereopop on Monday, February 19, 2001 - 09:33 pm:

I don't unerstand his hatred for 'Bang' either. I personally love it. The only Blur song I dislike is 'Country House' ... 'tis hella wack indeed. But the video's pretty entertaining.

By wakey on Monday, February 19, 2001 - 11:24 pm:

optigan one is pretty shit, but thats just an instrumental i supose.

By kacy on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 - 04:00 am:

I always skip Ernold Same.

By Lucky on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 - 11:50 am:

I hate the way Damon slags off Bang, but there we go. I don't enjoy To The End or No Distance Left To Run cos I find them boring. I've been listening to Parklife non-stop recently, and I always skip To The End.

Oh yeah, and Girls & Boys. Wubbish.

By chris on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 - 11:55 am:

I skip No Distance Left To Run, and Strange News From Another Star just makes me feel sleepy.

By evil_eye on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 - 06:15 pm:

tut tut...strange news from another star is a really good song...i think ..err...no i like all blur songs actually, aren't i lucky?!

By Chris on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 - 06:21 pm:

Come to think of it I always skip To The End, Girls & Boys, Song 2 and Pressure on Julian.

By St*Rsh*PeD on Tuesday, February 20, 2001 - 06:55 pm:

nah, the only song that I skip is fucking Charmless Man...and M.o.R....the rest all have their great moments.

By Song_1 on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 - 10:23 am:

Birthday- its so fucking boring oh and pressure on julian and perhaps caramel if im having a bad day, i don't won't to hear it.

By Lucky on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 - 11:05 am:

No, I am.

Yeah I skip Birthday too, and forgot to mention I cannae stand Repetition either. Urgh it's dreadful.

Fool gets my goat. Yes that's right, not vote but goat. Actually, I suppose it gets my vote as well. But if we are going to be technical like that I'll be forced to add that it burns my wick considerably, all whilst getting both my goat and vote.

What's with the middle 8 part thing? It's horrendous.

By chris on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 - 01:09 pm:

goat and vote...

By indigo on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 - 01:16 pm:

hmmmm... I actually never listen to the whole of Leisure - only Sing, Bang, She's So High...

i often skip To The End, but strange news is lovely! At the moment, my favourites are Death of a Party and Trimm Trabb, and Magic America for those upbeat moments.

By chris on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 - 01:46 pm:

strange news is lovely, but then it is so slow, that it's a nice song to listen to when i can't sleep.

I think you're all forgetting Essex Dogs. It's an awesome music track with a horid poem spoken over it. Honestly, don't tell me anybody has ever rushed home so they could pop Essex Dogs in to the old CD player.

By Eddy on Sunday, February 25, 2001 - 01:05 pm:

I really love that poem, especially the version on the "Bustin' and Dronin" album.

By St*Rsh*PeD on Sunday, February 25, 2001 - 04:49 pm:

I love Essex dogs. Poem and all.

By kacy on Monday, February 26, 2001 - 04:11 am:

Me too, and in fact I posted a few days ago to that effect in the "favourite most hated blur song topic." I love the way the guitar builds up to that glorious/terrible chainsaw sound.I like the remix too...Thurston Moore was a good choice to work with that one.

By essex-dog on Monday, March 5, 2001 - 05:17 am:

i think the whole second side of lesuire is pretty crappy by blurs standards and thanks for all the love guys

By Lucky on Monday, March 5, 2001 - 06:24 am:

Noooooo, not Come Together?? How can you call those wonderfully deranged guitars "crappy"???

By alex on Tuesday, March 6, 2001 - 12:13 am:

Hello all(this is my first post here)
Er, I really dislike shes so high, its all a bit to..to poppy for my liking.

By Replacement Eddy on Tuesday, March 6, 2001 - 03:44 am:

Fuck Off Alex

By Kyle on Tuesday, March 6, 2001 - 01:32 pm:

Someone told me to Fuck Off today. Because I told him not to buy a Hootie and The Blowfish baseball cap. I ask you.

By Toby on Wednesday, March 7, 2001 - 12:04 am:

Hootie??? Who even knew they were still around? I don't think anybody like would have begrudged you if you tolchocked his gulliver.

By peter on Wednesday, March 7, 2001 - 10:15 am:

some ignorant person they are Kyle.

By BakeSoda Kyle on Wednesday, March 7, 2001 - 03:08 pm:

I thought my fellow Copers would side with me on this one. If I was a more vindictive human being than I am, I'd put up the Hootie fan's Email address. That way you lot could all abuse him.

But I'm just too nice a person.

By BakeSale on Wednesday, March 7, 2001 - 06:58 pm:

I see that I've done my usual trick and sent this topic off on a completely new, rather self indulgent tangent. Forget my unpleasant encounter with a Hootie and the Blowfish fan, people.

So, what's Blur's worst song then ?

By Killingflowes on Wednesday, March 7, 2001 - 11:16 pm:

I always skip "song 2" it is annoying. Just so damn over played.
