What's your favourite blur lyric

Coping: Blur general: What's your favourite blur lyric
By boy on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 02:39 pm:

Mine is: down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down down etc.

By Joe on Wednesday, October 25, 2000 - 10:59 pm:

That's not a blur lyric.

Mine's into another, you and me and my dad....

By Lucky on Thursday, October 26, 2000 - 08:30 am:

You're joking, right?
It's not really "and my dad", right?
It's actually "am I dead?", right?
RIGHT?

By kacy on Thursday, October 26, 2000 - 02:55 pm:

down down down down etc. really IS a blur lyric! Featured in the b side amazingly called, er, "down."
My favourite...hmmm. That's tough. "growing fat on sound" is a cool phrase. I also like most of the lyrics to "all your life." And of course, my e-mail signature- "I'd love to stay here and be normal, but it's just so over-rated."

By boy on Thursday, October 26, 2000 - 05:06 pm:

Nah, I was only joking. My favourite lyrics are probably; "you know more than I, so think for me, think why your nothing" from luminous."She picks up the telephone, into another home" and "She's a well wisher and she wishes you well" from Miss America.

By Ian on Thursday, October 26, 2000 - 06:21 pm:

Magical Transit Children are quite a cool concept.

Hello pheasants, Redgely here.
Gosh Ian the new site update is amazingly good! And with a brand new layout as well. I don't know how you and Joe balance such amazing wizardry with being academically successful, and at the same time maintain your youthful good looks and charming personality which have captured the heart of the nation. Well done. I know you'll be all embarassed now lads but I just wanted to say what every other Fo3 fan wants to say.
Beenie man in a parachute! Is there no end to your surreal brilliance!

Cheers Reg.

My fave blur lyric, dudes, is from Mr Robinsons Quango. It goes a little something like this;

He ran to the toilets in the town hall
Got his biro out and he wrote on the wall
'I'm wearing black French knickers under my suit
I've got stockings and suspenders on
I'm feeling rather loose'

Yes, that is my fave. In the winter of '96 I used to pass by the many idle hours I spent loitering, shooting up and fucking in school and public toilets by scribbling that little chorus ditty on the walls.

I also used to write, encased with a big love heart and arrow;

MY OWN PRIVATE CHOCO-ORGASM DELUXE
1:30 - 1:42pm
24/5/96
(No, you're not welcome next time)

Thems were me tags, dudes. I was a cool fellow. Yeah. Very popular with the cleaners.

By Chris on Wednesday, November 8, 2000 - 08:16 pm:

My favourite Blur lyrics: "I always knew that there would be someone somewhere who had in for me". How true.

By indigo on Monday, November 13, 2000 - 12:30 pm:

i actually like Far Out - the lyrics aren't that amazing, but it's an interesting window into Alex's mind. Hmmmmmm....
Does anyone read his article in Q? If he's sober, it goes on about infinite maths and if he's not its kind of unreadable... very funny though.

By boy on Thursday, November 16, 2000 - 01:17 pm:

Here we go (here we go) here we go again
dirty knickers, pop music, vodka and gin

hahaha

this one's to the head the one that bounced through the rubber soul is good advice you always end up where you started

By love from nat on Sunday, November 19, 2000 - 01:49 am:

hm... fave lyrics, eh? perhaps, timelessly, the loveliness that is in the string
"don't bury me i'm not worth anything"
'cos we're all not, really.
well, this in mind, have a great day!

By tam on Sunday, November 19, 2000 - 05:46 am:

shooting stars in my left arm - very cool

By nattklubb on Wednesday, November 22, 2000 - 09:08 pm:

will you love me all the same
will you love me though it's always the same?

- is another nice line -

By sarah on Wednesday, December 13, 2000 - 03:46 pm:

'all i want to be is washed up/out(?) by the sea -strange news...

'so sleep together before today is sold forever' - london loves

'to karaoke songs how we like to sing along, although the words are wrong' - the universal

'all those dirty words make us look so dumb' - to the end

'hit traffic on the dogger bank, then up the thames to find a taxi rank' - this is a low (or in fact, the entire song)

the 'live like a lord in a tower' bit from 'theme from an imaginary film'.

the chorus of 'he thought of cars'.

'we kiss with dry lips when we say goodnight' - end of a century

'those mannikins look far too real at night' - young and lovely.

okay, i'll stop now.

By indigo on Wednesday, December 13, 2000 - 09:45 pm:

"We wear the same clothes cos we feel the same"

and the whole of This is a Low

and Bank Holiday!

ohh, and "I want McNormal and chips, or i'll blow you to bits, give us it!"

This topic is kind of centred on older songs - maybe Blur should go back to writing more lyrics based songs (although weird electronic exploding guitar noises are quite cool).

By Joe on Wednesday, December 13, 2000 - 09:52 pm:

Sarah ladies and gents!

The best thing about the "though the words are wrong" lyric is the way Damon did it twice by accident at Reading.

Or maybe it was just a hilarious joke?

Anyway, I went on this English course/lecture thing today, and the first twenty minutes were comprised of hilarious malaproprisms from exam candidates, such as Ophelia being Hamlet's "porn" in Hamlet, etc etc. Anyway, when this hilarity was over, the lecturer puts up a serious thing on the OHP about something about prac crit, and he's spelt what "shat", thus totally undermining him.

I was listening to entertain me the other day, and it just hit me that that is indeed one of the best bass playing I've ever heard, by Alex.....hehehe. I like the bassline on coffee&tv as well.

Fave lyrics:
'all I ever do is tame, will you love me all the same , will you love me though it's always the same'

'sociability is hard enough for me'

'in hotel cells listening to dial tones....gets disconnected sleepwalking back home'

'and I want you for my very very own'

'she made me kill myself...c'mon'

just to grab a few.
